By Sara Pena, Founder of Boys to Leaders Foundation
As a single mother, raised and still a resident in the City of Newark, my growing concern has been the lack of programs that reinforce leadership skills and expose my son to resources that will strengthen him in becoming a positive and successful Latino. Although he attends an excellent school in our city, as a single parent I seek additional resources to continue to build on his strengths and to assist me in surrounding him with positive male role models that look like him. As a result of my commitment to my community, and most importantly my son, I have decided to create an organization that will benefit our young Latino men, giving them a strong sense of achievement and enhance our direction and commitment to them and our community.
The Boys to Leaders Foundation, an organization whose mission is to empower, motivate, and inspire young men, is proud to announce it will be hosting its Second Annual Latino Youth Leadership Conference on November 1, 2014! Our goal is to unleash the potential of young men while offering the resources they will need to succeed!
One of the many benefits from the Latino Youth Leadership Conference will be the ability to promote a culture of communication that will translate into sustainable results for the future. The opportunity to meet prominent Latino men in their work environment through partnerships with specific agencies and companies in which they will be able to build relationships with caring, adult professionals who offer hope, opportunities and mentorship.
We are excited to engage with community partners and thought advocates. The success of the program depends on the generous donations and continuing support. You may contact Sara Peña via email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit our website here.
