Trenton Police Awarded Federal Grant

Congressman Rush Holt(NJ.com) A day after the swearing in of 24 new officers, more assistance may be on the way for Trenton’s understaffed police department thanks to a $1.5 million federal grant announced today.

The Community Oriented Policing Services grant will enable the city to hire 12 police officers, Rep. Rush Holt said in a press release.

“I was pleased to work with the Trenton leadership and the Justice Department to secure these funds,” Holt said in a statement. “Today’s good news is a reminder of the need for continued federal support for local law enforcement and the importance of investing in our local communities.”
