In parting Christmas gift, Christie signs bills to ease expungement of criminal records

 

TRENTON — Just days before Christmas, Gov. Chris Christie signed a three-bill package to ease the state’s requirements for the expungement of criminal convictions.Governor Christie-expungement

“I think signing a bill like this five days before Christmas is a really, really good thing to do,” the Republican governor said at a press conference outside his office. “It reminds people that God is forgiving and that God made us in his image and that we need to be forgiving, too — that we need to give those who truly have earned forgiveness the chance to be forgiven.”
