There’s literally something to cheer about for Savannah State University, as the school became the first historically black college and university to win the National Cheerleading Award on Sunday.
The Georgia-based school’s squad is composed of 12 women and one man, who were able to wow judges at the CheerSport Nationals in Atlanta, the first time in its 24-year history.
“We are very excited, ecstatic, just a feeling that you can’t explain,” senior cheerleader Morgan Moore told Savannah’s WJCL. “It’s indescribable, it’s just a great feeling to know that we’ve made history at our school.
