Who Runs Gov offers a unique look at the world of
Washington through its key players and
personalities. Our site will feature profiles of a select
group of government officials, including members of
the new presidential administration, legislators,
senior Congressional aides and committee staff, and
experts at think tanks and interest groups who
influence how policy is made. Each profile focuses
on an individual's policy experience and involvement
with specific areas of government decision-making,
from health care to telecommunications to financial
services to national security. Our goal is to become
the web destination for business, opinion and political
leaders – as well as students, educators and
engaged citizens - looking for crucial, real-time
information on the individuals who shape the policy-
making process in the nation’s capital.
For our initial site launch, creating and editing profiles
will be limited to our editorial staff; in its second
phase, our site will evolve into a moderated wiki.
Later in 2009, we will allow registered users to revise
existing profiles or create new ones. Our in-house
editorial team will review each suggestion before the
content is published. To increase the likelihood that
the content proposed by a contributor is approved, a
contributor should include citations to reputable
published sources or explain how the information is
within your personal knowledge. By employing such
moderated collaboration with our readers, we hope to
create a uniquely rich and valuable reference
resource that will help capture the subtle interactions
that drive policy outcomes in the nation’s capital.
In the meantime, we invite you to join our community
and participate in the site in this initial phase via
profile discussion pages or by submitting feedback
via our site blog.
The universe of profiles currently on our site will be
constantly expanding. To suggest that a profile be
added, please email us at
profiles@whorunsgov.com.
